Arroyo gives P50M for Guagua schools

GUAGUA -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has ordered the release of P50 million for the repair and rehabilitation of 24 public elementary schools in this first class municipality.

Mayor Ric Rivera said over the weekend that the recent visit of the President here has brought numerous infrastructure projects, such as the P15-million water system, barangay roads, multi-purpose buildings, flood mitigation projects and other development programs.

Arroyo has ordered the Department of Education (DepEd) to initiate the repair and rehabilitation of flooded public school buildings in all the 30 barangays here.

The mayor said a number of school buildings badly need repair and rehabilitation, while additional classrooms are also needed to address the growing number of pupils every school year.

Rivera said that Arroyo and her son, second district congressman Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo, have been material in the development and progress of the town. He added the local government unit (LGU) is very grateful for the Arroyos genuine concern for their Cabalens.

“No other president has done so much projects here, just is why she is loved by Kapampangans. What her father Diosdado said was the 'second serving' is what she is doing now that is why she often visits her district and because she loves us,” said Rivera.

He further said that Arroyo's critics should not question the constant visit of Pampanga’s favorite daughter in her home town and province, adding that for several years, Arroyo has served other provinces and regions when she was still a senator, vice-president and president, even as she is now in her last year in office and going back to her roots.

The mayor sees nothing wrong should Arroyo decides to run as representative in the second district, saying there is no law preventing this.
