LAST Thursday, the Clark International Airport Corporation has finally opened the TriNoma Clark Airport Lounge, where passengers can take a P200 bus ride all the way to the Clark airport and vice-versa.

The TriNoma Clark Airport Lounge will provide for a flawless transport service between Manila and Clark airport 24/7 in the face of the increasing passenger volume at the Clark airport, now one of the busiest airports in the country. With over 1.3 million passengers recorded in 2012 the number is expected to increase this year given the fact that the airport has now become too small for the ever increasing passenger volume.

The Clark airport deemed it necessary to open the TriNoma Clark Airport Lounge and the Dau Clark Airport Lounge to further improve accessibility.

Present during the opening of the Dau Clark Airport Lounge were Mabalacat City Mayor Marino "Boking" Morales and Director Bong Baron of the Clark Development Corporation. In Quezon City, House Speaker Sonny Belmonte graced the opening of the TriNoma Clark Airport Lounge, a spacious area located at the ground level of the TriNoma Mall, which has some 550 stores.

Passengers from Manila and Calabarzon will have direct access to the Clark airport while passengers coming from the Clark airport will have access to the shops at the world-class TriNoma (Triangle North of Manila).

Strategically located in "North Triangle", the mall is bound by three major thoroughfares -- North Avenue, Edsa and Mindanao Avenue Extension, where buses will have an easy access to the North Luzon Expressway eluding heavy traffic along Edsa. TriNoma sits on a 20-hectare parcel of land and is connected to the North Avenue MRT Station.

The LTFRB should support the move to develop the Clark route to give "tooth and meaning" to the overall plan of the national government to further improve mass transport.

The Clark airport recorded 1,312,979 passengers last year compared to 767,109 passengers in 2011 or a 71.16 percent increase. Passenger volume will increase this year and in the coming years – by then Clark airport should expand capacity and develop support services.
