During Monday’s awarding, gold medalists received P2,000 with silver medalists receiving P1,000 and bronze medalists taking home P500 hundred pesos.
“This serves as an open encouragement to our athletes. We hope that all of the winners will continue to bring honors in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa in Tarlac City,” Nepomuceno said, stressing that the City Government will be up in supporting the representatives to the national games to be held in Tarlac City.
Nepomuceno said that further incentives will be given to athletes who could bring more honor to the city in the upcoming games.
Nepomuceno said that he has instructed Sports Coordinator Paul Puri to start the training of athletes for the next CLRAA Meet in 2011 and this year’s national games.
The city is expecting to maintain its position as among the top three divisions in the CLRAA ranking.
Currently, Angeles City ranks third in the over-all CLRAA ranking for 2010.
The multi-million peso Angeles City Sports Stadium which started construction early last month is also expected to host most of the practice sessions of the city's athletes.
“The Angeles City Sports Stadium is also expected to increase the skills of our athletes as they would now have their own place to practice within Olympic standards,” Nepomuceno said, stressing that a comprehensive sports program and training system is now on the works to further boost the winnings of the city in future competitions.
Nepomuceno also gave commemorative medals to the winners of the CLRAA games along with their coaches.
