Drunk man injured in shootout with cops

MABALACAT -- A 22-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound after he reportedly exchanged fire with police officers inside a posh subdivision here Tuesday night.
Rodel Aluarte Gamboa, 22, single, of Narra Street, Green Meadows Subdivision, this town, was shot on the right buttock by one of the responding policemen.

Superintendent Rolly Mendoza, town police chief, said at around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, a concerned citizen reported to the local police station that a drunk man was carrying a gun in front of a store along Washington Street in said subdivision.
Mendoza said he sent a team of cops to investigate the report.
Upon arriving in the area, responding police officers started interrogating witnesses, including Reynaldo Repulido and Rodel Nicdao.
The suspect suddenly appeared and poked his gun onto Repulido.
The policemen instructed the suspect to put down his gun but to no avail. Gamboa instead fired upon the cops.
The suspect was taken to the Ospital Ning Angeles for treatment after sustaining the minor injury.
Police seized a .22 caliber handgun from Gamboa after the incident.
Mendoza said the suspect was charged with frustrated homicide and illegal possession of firearms before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
