New Eco-Bags: SM City Clark’s commitment to environmental protection
Wednesday, August 24, 2011
IT IS undeniable that SM City Clark, along with other SM Supermalls, is taking environmental corporate responsibility into a whole new level with the launching of the new edition of eco-bags that highlight the renewed advocacy of the mall.
The SM City Clark launching was held at the mall’s The Event Center and was attended by Sonny Dobles, chairman of the Green Thumb Movement and Sta. Maria Elementary School students led by Principal Manuel Luis Dueñas and Annie Garcia, president of SM Supermalls.

After the unveiling, Great Mind (GM) models walked the ramp to present the New Designs of the Eco Bag. For three years now, the SM Supermalls continue to do its part for the environment by creating the green bag movement. With this year’s theme, “I am Involved,” the new Eco Bag communicates the importance of being involved and taking action in helping save the environment.
As part of SM’s response to the government’s solid waste management legislation, various ordinances on plastics, and the internal direction for their business to operate sustainably, SM continues to advocate re-usable shopping bags for all shopping purposes.
The SM Eco Bag addresses the issue of deforestation by reducing the amount of plastic waste and limits further landfill expansion. This is in full support of the United Nations’ call to celebrate 2011 as The International Year of the Forests.
The event aims to raise people’s awareness on the significance of sustaining and conserving our forest.
Proceeds of the bag sales will go to the various tree-planting projects of SM Supermalls in partnership with the United Nations and the University of the Philippines Los Baños College of Forestry.
