Gueco: Mayor Ed’s Invite
Saturday, October 8, 2011
TODAY, celebrating our La Naval Fiesta in Angeles City, we are one proud city.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan invites us all to the month-long Fiestang Kuliat (FK) festival.
Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.
He asserts: “Appreciating and acknowledging another year of bountiful harvest, we harvest the fruits of our labor. Building on our individual career and personal passions, happiness oozes in our Kapampangan veins. You and I maximize our talents and capabilities in crafting, contriving and creating the gateway to productive work. Driving the wheels of Angeles economy, we may thrive as a field worker, farmer, office employee, entrepreneur, teacher, healer, midwife, writer, artist, doctor… aah, the list goes on and on.
What matters most is that you and I embolden one hearts and stir our hands to spark off Angeles City’s lighthouse of progress, projects, and prosperity. Join us in our month-long Fiestang Kuliat (FK) activities.”
PESO ‘Hall of Fame Award’
Zooming in on another matter of importance, we relate to you this good news from the Angeles City communication center: “The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of the Angeles City local government unit bagged the “PESO Hall of Fame Award” during the 11th National PESO Congress, which opened on October 5 in Davao City.
Mayor Pamintuan affirmed the commendation that Angeles City won this year’s “National Best PESO Award.”
For the third consecutive year, from 2009 to 2011, Angeles City bested other contenders in the “Highly Urbanized City” category.
Organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole), the National PESO Congress is an annual gathering of over 700 managers representing more than 1,000 PESOs nationwide.
This new recognition came after Angeles City placed fourth among the top performing cities in the highly urbanized and independent component cities category in the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Local Governance Performance Management System (LGPMS).
Angeles City was represented by PESO manager Adelina Deocales.
Pamintuan said Dole cited PESO Angeles City for its “genuine dedication in the delivery of service.”
The mayor attributed the award to the untiring effort of the city’s PESO personnel, together with the undying support of the business community, private companies, and other stakeholders in creating job opportunities to the Angeleños.
He congratulated Deocales and her office for bringing honor to Angeles City.
This annual event brings together PESO managers, staff, officials and employment focal persons of the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Offices in the entire Philippines to single out their unified efforts in the provision of efficient employment services.
The Public Employment Service Office or PESO is mandated under Republic Act No. 8759 or the PESO Act of 1999 to be established in every province, city, municipality, state and private colleges and universities, non-government organizations, and community-based organizations.
It aims to carry out the state policy to provide full employment and equality of employment opportunities for all and, for this purpose, to strengthen and expand the existing employment facilitation service machinery of the government at the local levels.
Finale
What a blessed day of our La Naval fiesta.
Genuflecting in our Holy Rosary parish church, we utter words of pasasalamat (thanksgiving) to our Divine Creator for pouring goodwill, generosity and gracious blessings on our city and cabalens (city mates).
Enjoy today’s feast with your family, friends, and familiar associates.
We empower our city because we spread the ‘Aslagan” (sunlight) of beneficial work and service to our fellow sisters and brothers.
