PAMAWD hosts induction of new officers for 2013-2014

THE Pampanga Association of Water Districts (PAMAWD) marked the start of another year in its history as it ushered in a new set of officers for this year during the 13th Induction of Officers at the Widus Casino and Resort Hotel over the weekend.
The PAMAWD represents 13 water utilities in the province and serves a united voice for the water service industry in Pampanga. The group also serves as council for mutual cooperation and cascading of good programs for water utilities.
The event presented the induction and oath-taking of the new officers of the organization. Leading this year’s Executive Council is President Jorge Gumba of the City of San Fernando Water District. The Executive Council is composed of Vice President Evelina Galicia (Lubao Water District), Secretary Reynaldo Liwanag (Angeles City Water District), Treasurer Ceferina Macdon (Sta. Rita Water District), Auditor Rolando Tolentino (Masantol Water District), Sgt. At Arms Francis Vinuya (Candaba Water District) and PRO Gil Manalastas (Porac Water District).
This year’s PAMAWD board of directors include Chairman Abraham Dela Cruz (Candaba Water District), Vice Chairman Mario Francisco Lapid, Secretary Francisco Reyes Jr. and Treasurer Rico Malgapu (Bacolor Water District).
The event was graced by Antonio Legarda and Department of Environment and Natural Resources Undersecretary Demetrio Ignacio who represented of Senator Loren Legarda and Secretary Ramon Paje, respectively.
The two delivered inspirational messages and urged local water utilities to lead efforts in environmental initiatives, protection of watersheds, tree plantings and the likes.
Chairman Rene Villa of the LWUA Board of Trustees in his speech presented the core initiatives that water utilities should undertake particularly in encouraging the establishment of water utilities in towns where there are none and in the continuous development of existing water utilities.
President Gumba, for his part, said the PAMAWD will continue with its skills and development programs and will foster better cooperation with water districts on the implementation of community and social programs and projects.
The event was also attended by CLAWD Chairman Art Villasin, CLAWD President Marco Villasan and PAWD VP for Luzon Francis Dimaliwat, among others.
