CITY of San Fernando Water District (CSFWD) takes another leap in its social responsibility program as it took part on Monday's Buntis Summit 2013 at the Heroes Hall in the city.
The event was in partnership with the City Health Office and Catholic Women's League (Dolores) and featured services like Hepa-B screening, urinalysis, blood testing, dental check-up, distribution of buntis kits and vitamins.
CSFWD general manager Jorge Gumba said the event also featured lectures on breastfeeding, family planning, dangers of pregnancy that were attended by 180 pregnant women.
"Our water utility here hopes of being more responsive to the needs of its immediate community as we partner with other cause oriented groups and government agencies for similar programs like this," Gumba said.
Aside from this, the water utility also hosts the yearly bloodletting program with the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) chapter to contribute to blood-banking efforts and to promote healthy lifestyle among members.
In all these events, employees of the water utility are encouraged to participate. Gumba explains that the program reminds employees who donate to keep themselves healthy. He said that the program also promotes a sense of responsibility and awareness among employees.
He said such activities represent part of the corporate social responsibility of the water utility.
"We are not just a company; we are a socially involved and responsible company. Helping in community event activities is just a fraction of the total social works we are going to conduct in the coming months," Gumba said.
Such activities, he added, help their employees in realizing the value of helping others.
