Guiao belittles Panlilio's performance

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Vice Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao said Wednesday that Governor Eddie Panlilio, despite having stayed for two years in public office, still needs to improve his performance.

Guiao said the priest-turned-governor has yet to make any significant long-lasting achievement.

The vice governor issued this statement after Panlilio reported on Tuesday the accomplishments of his administration, citing the millions of pesos released to different government social services and development projects in the province.

Speaking before local officials and Capitol employees here during his “Ulat Sa Bayan,” Panlilio cited as foremost in his list of accomplishments the P413-million quarry collection made by his administration in the past 24 months, with P138 million shares released to municipalities and barangays.

Guiao said although Panlilio’s achievements in improving the quarry fee collection here are commendable, the latter has not made “any impact projects and developments” for the province.

“Any performance in government should be gauged on certain acceptable parameters. He has improved the collection in quarry but after that, what? We can see that not much has changed in the needed developments in the province,” he said.

Guiao added that the delivery of basic services in the province “is still way behind” and has not improved for the past two years under the Panlilio administration.

“We have yet to see any impact projects that are implemented by the Capitol. The Provincial Board is always for the welfare of the Kapampangans and we are supporting any development move. But so far nothing long lasting has been achieved,” Guiao said.

Panlilio, in his speech, dismissed political disagreements and urged for political unity in the province.

He added that under his watch, about P31.5 million have been spent for public health programs; P26.5 million for supplemental feeding; and P100 million more in scholarship grants for poor students.

But Guiao insisted that Panlilio’s competence in governance has not been felt by the majority of the Kapampangans.

Sun.Star tried but failed to get the comment of Panlilio as of this Thursday.

What kind of comment are you

What kind of comment are you expecting from Yeng?
