Korean stabbed dead

MABALACAT -- A Korean national died while his live-in partner was seriously wounded in a stabbing incident inside the victims’ internet café at dawn Saturday.

Sung Jung Hak, 28, a Korean national and his partner Richel Malinao Roxas, 22 were assaulted by a lone suspect identified as Jerico Madrique, 22, a suspected drug-dependent inside the Love Corner Internet Café situated at Plaza Romana building in Barangay Dau at around 3:20 a.m. Saturday.

The Korean died of multiple stab wounds while Roxas survived but is in critical condition, police said.

Dau Police Chief Jowen Dela Cruz said Madrique entered the establishment while under the influence of drugs.

The suspect, who was then playing internet games, asked for a glass of water but was irked when the shop attendant ignored him.

Dela Cruz said Roxas was awakened by the noise created inside the internet café and went out of her room.

Without any apparent reason, Madrique allegedly attacked and stab Roxas several times when she reaches the computer area.

After this, the suspect turned his ire to the Korean, whom he stabbed on the neck and chest.

When asked by newsmen, Madrique claimed he was not aware of the things he has done.

The suspect also disclosed that he has no grudge on the victims.

“Wala lang po, bigla na lang nagdilim paningin ko. Hindi ko na po alam nun kung anong ginawa ko,” Madrique said.

Police Officer (PO) 3 Michael Yusi and PO2 Robert Lurzano, police officers on case, said the suspect immediately left the area after the incident bringing with him P850 he has stolen from the internet café.

Madrique is now detained at the Dau police station. He will be charged with Robbery with Homicide and Frustrated Homicide before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, according to Lurzano.(Reynaldo G. Navales)
