WHEN I saw in the paper that Mayor Blueboy (Nepomuceno) had put a fare matrix for trikes, I thought it was a wonderful idea. . . But you try and get it, nearly impossible. The other night I tried to catch a trike from Fields Avenue asked much... P100 ... I said I’m only going 1.8 kilometers, the matrix fare would be P40. I was informed they don’t do it ... So I walked off and asked another trike, he said P80. I said the mayor has a matrix of P20 for 1st kilometer, P20 for the second and P10 for every other kilometer.

The driver then informed the mayor had no control over Fields Avenue trikes... Marlim Mansions trike terminal, minimum fare P50. I told them the matrix, they said, catch a jeep. These rouges are out of control, also not one trike had the matrix posted inside their trike.
Maybe it’s time Mayor Blueboy went down and kicked some trike drivers’ butt. And also issue P500 or P600 fines for no matrix display and issue a very strong warning. Also, a complaint phone number on every terminal would be a good idea.
Many Thanks,
Capt. Rick Lyon

That issue is often common
That issue is often common in the Fields area, purely due to it's prime customer base being foreign tourists patronizing the city's "entertainment" district. Call it a "Sin-Tax" of sorts. That is the unfortunate increase in price often expected and paid in that particular area.
Often, due to the "popularity" of that tourist area, the trike terminals there often charge a high premium "Station Price" for trikes stationed there. This increased "Hot Spot" price is often tranferred expected to be shouldered by the customer.
Its nothing personal, only business....much like Airport Taxis are always tainted with an inflated price....simply because the Airport is considered a "Prime" location and they often have to pay extra to the terminal/station to avail of that priveledge.
The same complaint is valid when taxis charge travellers 300php++ to transport a passenger from DMIA Clark to only the Clark Maingate.
Its not the driver's fault, rather the unfair fact of there being "too many fingers in the pocket".
