Aslag Kapampangan president Fr. Ronnie Cao said the event runs with the theme “Bie Estudyanti… Kayanakan... King Beluan Mu’t Kabiasnan atin Tamung Mayap a Paintungulan.”
This year’s competition also features 12 finalists from 10 schools, namely Don Bosco Academy-Mabalacat, Mabalacat College, Holy Angel University, Angeles University Foundation, STI Collge-CSFP, Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University, Mother of Good Counsel Seminary, Northville Integrated School, and the Don Jesus Gonzales High School.
Aslag Kapampangan coordinator for music Bigben Escasa said the event aims to cultivate the Kapampangan cultural music traditions among the youth and create a new breed of song and music performers from a young generation of Kapampangans through the help of Aslag.
Aslag Kapampangan also includes Peter de Vera (coordinator for performing arts), Rolando Quiambao and Renz Quiambao (coordinators for visual arts) and Deng Escasa (secretary-treasurer).
According to Rolando Quiambao, Aslag Kapampangan stands for Artists Supporting Local Artists Guild. It is a non-profit, non-stock organization of Kapampangan artists which develops, promotes, and preserves Kapampangan cultural traditions.
The group also offers opportunities to talented Kapampangan youth aspiring to develop their crafts and deepen their passion for Kapampangan arts. Quiambao said that they are accepting other partners and groups who are willing to contribute to the success of the upcoming event.
“We hope that this event will be the start of a new era in music for Kapampangans,” Quiambao said.
