Santacruzan with a new twist
-A A +AMonday, May 28, 2012
WHOEVER said that you would have to be young to be in a Santacruzan?
The Santacruzan during the Pyestang Fernandino 2012 in the City of San Fernando held over the weekend took a different turn as the young and not-too-young paraded in their best gowns for the popular religious festival.
The religious promenade included the fabulous women of Pampanga’s high society, women leaders, and club officers, and of course the women of this year’s Pyestang Fernandino Executive Committee.
The reenactment of the popular legend of St. Helena’s travel to Calvary 300 years after Christ's death to search for Christ's cross has never been this glittery.
Among the head-turner participants are El Circulo Fernandino immediate past president Divine Tulio, Quotarian Nimya Yalung, businesswoman Agnes Romero and Pyestang Fernandino executive committee chair
Jennifer Lopez who is this year’s Reyna Elena, a fitting honor for the woman who helped stir this year’s fiesta celebration to an obvious success.
Also joining this year’s Santacruzan were candidates for this year’s Lakan ning San Fernando including Aljon Dimabuyu (Alasas), Mark Dominique Salazar (Baliti), Nicole Pabalan (Del Pilar), Lincoln Aaron Gatchalian (San Pedro), Paul Aldrich Amante (San Nicolas), Ian Joseph David (Dolores), Ralph Jefferson Ico (Del Pilar), and Harold Hendrixx Milanes (Sta. Lucia).
Mutya candidates Sheena Rhea Puno (Panipuan), Caludilyb Joy Cadenilla (San Agustin), Catherine Joy Cueto (Bulaon), Shryll Ann Canlas (Bulaon), Macrina Santos (Alasas), Jomina Mediatrix Mallari (Dolores), Czarina Villanueva (Baliti), Renalyn Dela Pena (Sindalan) and Kamille Villanueva (Sta. Lucia) represented the many titles of the Virgin Mary.
