Going Global: Covering the UN
Friday, November 26, 2010 - 02:42 a.m.COVERING the United Nations is probably boring for any Filipino journalist, especially one like me who comes from a regional daily newspaper.
One may probably think the boredom may come with the thought that the Philippines -- as a state -- may not really be a force to reckon with in global affairs and diplomacy. It is like saying "What difference does it make? We are just a developing country. Coverage of UN is as less interesting as what the Philippines could eke out in New York compared to the mighty nations."
From teaching to writing: A reporter's adventure
Friday, November 26, 2010 - 02:40 a.m.I HAVE been working with Sun.Star Pampanga for more than a year now. I started as a correspondent after leaving Central Luzon TV 36's news desk which I served for several months. But before I joined the media outfit, I also spent seven years in the academe in the capacity of a full time college instructor until such time that I decided to move on and be with my first love: writing.
A broader, boundless horizon in the local news media

Laus, in a flare of bravado, foresees a broader horizon in local community reporting with Sun.Star Pampanga leading the way on the side of the newspaper business. Not surprising, since he has started a brave endeavor bringing Sun.Star Publications into the unforgiving business environment of Pampanga.

15 years of SSP's committed service to Pampanga readers
Friday, November 26, 2010 - 02:35 a.m.NUMBERS are not always decisive, but in terms of a media outfit's longevity in giving credible public service, numbers do matter.
Many local individuals have braved the harsh market and opened their respective newspapers in Pampanga, much with only bravado and the honest intent of bringing news to the people and never minding the economics of the business that they fold-up barely a few years after opening. Much like fireworks, they bring a momentary spectacle before disappearing.
Looking Back
Friday, November 26, 2010 - 02:33 a.m.FOR some people, the idea of going back to where they came from is a bad idea.

However, with SSP listening to their concerns, they said, they are now brave enough in demanding protection of their rights.
Another fruitful year with Sun.Star Pampanga
Friday, November 26, 2010 - 02:22 a.m.A WRITING job can be a lot of things but working as a journalist for Sun.Star Pampanga is never boring. It is always climatic, a surge down the hill and sometimes it offers a few nuggets of wisdom along the way.
Though a fairly young addition to Sun.Star Pampanga, I have seen enough of its highs and lows. It is never a perfect organization albeit it does try to be one. But it can be said that Sun.Star Pampanga provides enough elbow room for its reporters to grow and explore their skills alongside their regular work schedules.
