CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Information office (PIO) of Pampanga is marking its first anniversary Monday with a simple but relevant gathering for local media friends.

In an exclusive interview with veteran journalist and broadcaster Joel Mapiles, he told Sun.Star Pampanga that the initial year of the yet-to-be institutionalized unit of the Provincial Government was fruitful.

“We are simply job order guys doing the gargantuan work of informing Kapampangans about what is happening at Capitol, good or bad. The group was commissioned by our loving Governor Lilia ‘Nanay Baby’ Pineda, so our cabalens will know what is happening in the province through the able help of our partners in local media who are very dynamic,” Mapiles said.

The PIO team has churned out several issues of “Diario Capitolio,” and is bound to get their very own radio and television station “Radyo Kapitolyo.”

“Much that my hair has turned white in just a year,” Mapiles said in jest. “I wish to thank the governor, the Provincial Board, Provincial Administrator Jun Pangilinan, all department heads, sources and specially our local and even national media partners for the support. Dito sa atin kasi, ang alagang Nanay ay serbisyong tunay at doon tayo sa tutuo lang, walang kasinulanginan sa pagsisilbi sa taong bayan,” Mapiles said.
