CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Award-winning independent film director Brillante Mendoza said local government units could help in the growth of the Kapampangan film industry.

“Independent film production is as expensive as commercial film production. A quality indie film costs from P500,000 to as much as P5 million for a really good film complete with technical support, props and production requisites. A local indie film producer often does not have that much and this is where the support of local government units in Pampanga can come in,” he said.
Mendoza added that support is not necessary financial assistance but in the form of free venues for workshops, meals for participants and probably basic equipment aspirants could use in the course of training.
Mendoza said to produce top-rated indie film directors, producers and actors means one has to undergo several stages in filmmaking like scriptwriting, production, direction and even actual acting, which entail some expenses.
