Mayor bares plan to beautify Mabalacat

MABALACAT – Mayor Marino Morales has bared plans to beautify and light up major roads in anticipation of big investments in this urbanized municipality.

Morales’s lighting project will be implemented with the cooperation of the Pelco-2 management led by Amador “Ka Basil” Guevarra.

Guevarra allowed the project to push through while an ongoing demand claims with the local government is being heard in the local court, according to Morales.

Morales lauded the move of Guevarra, saying it will benefit the town of Mabalacat, which is now eyeing cityhood.

Morales noted that Guevarra has kept an “open mind” with regard to the legal problem between Pelco-2 and Mabalacat.

“This is a breakthrough. We can now proceed with the beautification and lighting project of major roadways in Mabalacat,” Morales said.

The local executive said the legal problem was set aside for the development of Mabalacat town.

“We will work closely with Pelco-2 and we are hoping that this coordination will bring about better service to the public,” said Morales.

The whole stretch of MacArthur Highway in Mabalacat and SCTEx interchanges in Mabiga and Dolores will be lighted, according to Morales.

“We are about to enter a new era in the history of Mabalacat. The once listless town ravaged by the Mt. Pinatubo eruptions in 1991 will become a city and as such it should look like one,” the mayor said.

“Well-lighted roadways will also deter crimes and prevent vehicular accidents,” he added.

Mabalacat is one of the few towns in Pampanga province that is directly linked to the SCTEx.
