On January 14, Cabrera informed the Police Station 4 that his motorcycle was stolen from his house.
Police Station 4 quickly alerted different police units. A few hours later, Cabrera relayed to Tan’s office that his motorcycle was spotted along Henson St., Lourdes North West, this city.
Chief Inspector Luisito M. Tan, Police Station 4 chief, said he immediately coordinated with Police Station 2 in Barangay Sta. Teresita.
After the victim identified the suspect, a team of cops led by Senior Inspector Dederick Relativo and Senior Inspector Ernesto Silva swooped down on the suspect’s dwelling which resulted to the recovery of the bike.
Mrcado, who fled before the cops arrived, already detached the other spare parts. Tan said the suspect was surrendered by his relatives to the police after several hours.
Tan said Mercado was charged with carnapping before the Office of the City Prosecutor.
According to Tan, Mercado may be responsible behind carnapping cases in Mabalacat and Magalang.
“Puro Mio ang ninanakaw nito (suspect),” Tan said.
The city police have already coordinated with the Magalang and Mabalacat police for the possible involvement of Mercado with other motorcycle theft cases.
