CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Third District Board Member and Provincial Board (PB) Committee on Children chairman, Trina Dizon, said over the weekend that the Children’s Welfare Code, which she authored and sponsored, must be approved soon.
During the committee hearing with health officials, social workers, police and children’s rights advocates, Dizon said some towns and cities in Pampanga have enacted their respective children’s codes, which is why there is the urgency to pass Capitol’s own version.

“Several towns and cities have enacted their children’s welfare code and the Provincial Government has not. Our governor [Lilia Pineda] wants this passed and approved soonest. We are now working on the final draft which we will submit to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for approval,” she said.
Dizon told Sun.Star Pampanga that the Capitol’s Children’s Welfare Code is more specific and stresses the rights of children more explicitly.
“Our Children’s Welfare Code covers more specific areas that include protection, participation, survival and development. After the next committee hearing, I would submit the final draft to the PB for approval and its enactment early next month,” Dizon said.
