CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- A caravan of 1,200 cyclists took off early Saturday morning from City Hall and made its rounds of San Fernando to officially kick-off the “Kaganapan 2012” celebrations.
Kaganapan 2012 is a month-long jubilation of San Fernando’s 11th cityhood anniversary where various activities have been lined-up, including The Outstanding Fernandino Awards on February 4, the exact date the town was formally recognized as a component city.

The cycling caravan, on its fourth year now, is the traditional activity kicking off the cityhood celebrations. This year’s event is themed: “Pamibuklud ding Barangay, Kaganapan ning Siyudad.”
“This year our cycling caravan is bigger since 1,200 cyclists from 37 clubs in Pampanga participated in the 70-kilometer run from City Hall, Angeles City, inner barangays and then on to the finish line here at Heroes Hall,” Community Affairs Division head Donny Sayre said.
Rodriguez said: “Paganda ng paganda ang ating Kaganapan 2012, especially with the start by the cycling caravan of more than 1,000 participants. We also have many activities for the celebration dahil ito ay isang pag-gunita sa pag-unlad ng siyudad at ng mga Fernandino.”
He said that plans to convert San Fernando into a highly urbanized city may be realized soon.
“Pero hindi pa ngayon from its present condition as a component city, for various reasons, but of course we will push for its conversion into a highly urbanized city when the right time comes,” concluded Rodriguez.
