THE “acetylene gang” struck again in the City of San Fernando on Wednesday, taking a still undetermined amount of jewelry and other valuables from the Cabalen pawnshop in Barangay Sto. Rosario.
According to a report, the robbery took place between 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday and 8:35 a.m. Wednesday. Police said the gang gained entry to the pawnshop by digging a hole underneath the shop’s vault where the valuables were located.
Based on the investigation, the hole runs through a canal from a creek nearby. It was also by the creek where the police recovered the valuables taken from the pawnshop.
Police said the suspects might have dropped the items in their hurry to flee the scene. Authorities also recovered some items used by the suspects in the robbery.
As of press time, city police chief Superintendent Lusito Magnaye said his men “are still investigating” the incident, while Scene of the Crime Operatives are still processing the crime scene.
Police also failed to give an estimate as to the amount of valuables taken from the pawnshop. (Ric Sapnu)
