Angeles mayor celebrates 63rd birthday today

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan celebrates his 63rd birthday Thursday with an Ecumenical Mass at the Marquee Mall here.

City Government workers, relatives, friends and other well wishers will join Pamintuan during the mass, which will be followed by a short program commemorating the 26th anniversary of the Edsa Revolution.

"This day is historical, not because of my birthday, but because February 23 marks the turning point of our people's long struggle for democracy.

After we were placed under dictatorial rule for 14 years, I want us to celebrate the re-birth of our freedom," Pamintuan said.

For his birthday, Pamintuan, through the city’s Public Employment Service Office (Peso) will host a Jobs Fair for local and overseas employment at Robinson’s Place Balibago.

“Since it’s my birthday, we would like to show and manifest our genuine care to the Angeleños by way of this job fair. It is our hope and objective that those who will submit their resumés and employment application will soon find jobs, or even a get a career,” Pamintuan said.

Peso manager Adelina Deocales said the job fair will be held from 10 am until 5 pm.

Deocales said licensed recruitment firms and business locators inside the Clark Freeport Zone are sending hiring teams to participate in the job fair.

Representatives from national agencies like the Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority will also provide employment assistance to jobseekers.

Datelcom, a local telephone company in this city will also provide free overseas calls for those who would like to contact their families and loved ones abroad during the job fair.
