CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Fourth district Board Member Nestor Tolentino distributed over the weekend some P125,000 in scholarship assistance to some 50 indigent students from different towns of the province.
Tolentino told Sun.Star Pampanga that the students received some P2,500 each as part of the assistance program instituted by Governor Lilia Pineda this year.
Most of the awardees are honor students and are required to maintain satisfactory grades in order to maintain membership in the scholarship program.
“This program is part of our commitment with Governor Pineda to help students in the district achieve their dreams for good education,” Tolentino said.
The provincial lawmaker said the Provincial Government will be sustaining the program and will be tapping more students who can qualify.
Tolentino also urged the students who attended the distribution at the Provincial Board Session Hall to maintain satisfactory grades and be successful in their chosen careers.
“This financial assistance aims to inspire these students to not give up their studies and continue to aspire for good grades,” Tolentino said, adding that the students must prove themselves worthy to continue receiving the financial assistance by performing well with their studies.
Tolentino also urged the students to maximize the use of the funds by augmenting their tuition fees or using them for their various educational needs.
He also relayed to the beneficiaries the wish of the governor that they should study well and avoid incurring bad records and poor grades.
