PORAC -- Councilor Mike Tapang has underscored the tourism potential of this first-class municipality situated at the north western uplands of Pampanga.
Tapang said Porac needs a comprehensive master development plan, an essential scheme in marketing the town, which is home to tourist destinations like the Miyamit Falls, Mount Pinatubo and others.
The official cited a good classification of land under the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, which will be implemented in 10 years.
Porac will not just be known for its mineral and quarry sites but for a world-class tourist haven where cable cars, zip lines and other amenities will be constructed, he added.
With this, Tapang said he is planning to launch soon “Porac 2020”, a program that will highlight the town as a prime tourist destination, considering its proximity to Clark International Airport and Subic Seaport.
Under the land use plan, the local government unit will designate quarry zones and piggery and poultry areas, Tapang added.
In this way, he said, the town will be conducive to investors.
According to him, other Asean countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand and other rely on eco-tourism.
“With right marketing strategy, Porac will become a premier tourist destination ang highly urbanized municipality,” Tapang said. (Reynaldo G. Navales)
