ANGELES CITY -- Kapampangan artists and Art Association of the Philippines (AAP) members Dr. Vittorio Pantig and brothers Edu and Eliseo Perreras were among the winners in this year’s GSIS Art Competition 2012 held at the GSIS Museum, Pasay City recently.
The AAP-GSIS annual painting competition was first held in 2004. Ever since it begun, it has helped promote the Philippine art scene through painting competitions both in figurative and abstract painting categories, and recently included sculpture competition.
The GSIS was the first government owned and controlled company (GOCC) in sponsoring a National Art competition, in partnership with the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP).
Don De Dios, of the local AAP chapter in Angeles city, said Dr. Pantig was finalist in the sculpture category of the competition with his work "Matatag Na Pagkakaisa".
Perreras, on the other hand, was awarded honorable mention in the non representation category with his painting dubbed" Pirata."
Meanwhile, Perreras Jr. was adjudged as among the finalists in the representation category with his work "Serbisyong Hindi Mapapantayan ng mga Bayani ng Ating Bayan."
“These achievements of our local artists prove that we are able to carry on our art into the mainstream art scene. The GSIS competition inspires us and other Kapampangan artists to work harder to improve our crafts,” De Dios said. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
