MABALACAT -- A group of mountain and road bikers assailed the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) for implementing a bike ban along the MA Roxas Street during rush hours without prior notice.

Some members of the Kabalen Mountain Bikers Association (KMBA) said they were not allowed to pass by the Clark Freeport main gate last Thursday and Sunday.

The KMBA members said the CDC management should have placed signs before the Freeport's main entrance to warn cyclists of the new rules.

The bike restriction is against the program of the CDC to make Clark a sports tourism area, the bikers claimed.

Nicanor Targa, CDC Security and Fire Department chief, however, said the new guideline has not been implemented yet.

He said his office has yet to issue a notice to cyclists, construction workers, and other concerned individuals.

Bikers will not be allowed to pass the busy MA Roxas Avenue between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to prevent accidents, Targa said.

The new guideline will also require employees riding bikes to their places of work to wear proper gears for their protection, according to Targa.
