MABALACAT -- Vice President Jejomar Binay, in his letter to Mayor Marino Morales dated June 19, 2012, has expressed support for the conversion of Mabalacat town into a component city.
“I have read in the news that Mabalacat is scheduled for a plebiscite this July for its conversion to cityhood. I would like to congratulate you in advance for the success of this undertaking,” said Binay.
The Vice President said “it is high time for Mabalacat to be converted into a component city. I believe that when it becomes so, your (Morales') administration will be able to serve your constituents more and bring the city further development and progress.”
Binay's support came in the wake of the move to convert the town as the next “Makati North of Manila.” Binay served as mayor of the business district of Makati.
Morales said he welcomes the support of Binay to the conversion of Mabalacat into a component city.
“I and the people of Mabalacat express our gratitude to the Vice President for his support.”
The Mabalacat Business Club (MBC) earlier reaffirmed its support to the cityhood of Mabalacat town, which plays host to the Clark Freeport and the Clark International Airport.
“We are one step closer to cityhood. Our dream for a progressive and peaceful city is at hand,” said Morales.
The MBC stated that Mabalacat will attract more investors if it is converted into a city.
