STO. TOMAS ---“You do not stop here. Rather, you as a community should go on sowing the seeds and harvesting the fruits of faith.”
So Archbishop Paciano Aniceto urged parishioners and clergy of the St. Matthias Parish in Barangay San Matias in this predominantly Catholic town during the 50th founding anniversary or Golden Jubilee of the parish over the weekend.
“There is gold in faith and for you who continue to believe in the Lord and carry on the mission of the Church, you must stop planting and harvesting the fruits of faith as a community as you continue to grow in His love,” the prelate added, as he led the concelebrated mass with Auxiliary Bishop Pablo Virgilio David.
San Matias Parish priest Fr. Marius Roque narrated that the parish was established after a decree from then Archbishop Emilio Cinense which “detached” it from the Sto. Tomas Parish in 1962.
During the morning celebration attended by Mayor Lito Naguit and Vice-Mayor Ninang Ronquillo with other benefactors like civic leader Eva Mallari, past parish priests and lay parishioners who helped in establishing the parish and continue to serve today, were feted with honors and distinction.
