Capitol to distribute thermometers in schools

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO –- The Provincial Government is planning to distribute digital thermometers in all public schools in the province to further bolster its campaign against dengue.
This came as several of the dengue patients confined in various hospitals are elementary students.
With this, Governor Lilia Pineda directed the Provincial Health Office (PHO) to spearhead the distribution of digital thermometers before the end of July.
Pineda believes that the pupils’ health could be guarded well with the help of their school teachers.
She said they are seeking the cooperation of public school officials to win the campaign against dengue through regular monitoring of body temperature, aside from the usual cleaning of classrooms and surroundings.
PHO chief Marcelo Jaochico said that if they discover something irregular, the concerned teachers could immediately advise the parents and take the students to the nearest rural health unit or district hospital.
“Importante talaga ang agarang pagdidistribute ng mga thermometer sa mga eskwela upang di na dumami pa ang mga biktima ng dengue,” she said.
As this developed, Board Member Monina Laus, chairperson of the committee on health, has started working for the approval of a P300,000 budget for the purchase of digital thermometers. (Herbert P. Mapiles)
