ANGELES CITY -- At least six families were rescued from the Hadrian Creek in Barangay Balibago here because of strong water current due to heavy rains at dawn Thursday.
Balibago chairman Rodelio Mamac said the barangay team rescued a total of 21 individuals, including 12 children, who are now staying at the barangay hall.
One house was swept away by the strong water current which forced barangay leaders to effect a forced evacuation, according to Mamac.
Several families were also evacuated along the Abacan River where lateral erosions are threatening hundreds of families living along the waterways.
Mamac asked the city police to dispatch policemen in the area to prevent the evacuated residents from returning to the respective houses.
Scores of families were evacuated in Barangay Ninoy Aquino following the lateral erosions.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan on Tuesday ordered a forced evacuation after he, together with Mamac and other city officials inspected the destroyed embankment of the Abacan River.
Mamac said barangay personnel are on stand-by for rescue operation as southwest monsoon rains continue causing massive flooding in Pampanga and other parts of Central Luzon and Metro Manila.
