Mayor asks village leaders to activate disaster councils

ANGELES CITY - Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan on Thursday asked village chiefs to activate their respective disaster councils in order to respond effectively to the needs of their constituents during emergency situations.
In a meeting Thursday, Pamintuan asked the village officials to beef up their disaster councils particularly those affected by flooding and lateral erosions along the Abacan River.
The Angeles City Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (ACDRRMO) has reported that some 390 families – Anunas, 28; Malabanias, 201; Ninoy Aquino, 15; Pampang 76; Balibago, 6; Tabun, 5; and Amsic 49 -- as of Thursday.
Medical teams from the city health office and Ospital Ning Angeles provided assistance to the evacuees who are now staying in temporary shelters all over the city.
Pamintuan said the city social welfare office distributed relief goods to evacuees who were also advised not return home due to continuous rains.
Pamintuan the other day ordered for a forced evacuation of residents along the Abacan River due to lateral erosions and flooding.
