MAGALANG -- Mayor Romulo Pecson has ordered for the sandbagging of creeks, which lateral portions were eroded during the heavy rains brought about by southwest monsoon.
Pecson said the Municipal Government purchased sacks for the ongoing sandbagging of the Magalang creek to protect Barangays Santo Niño, Sta Lucia, Turu, Escaler, San Roque and other adjacent villages.
The mayor said that close to 100 families in various sitios here were affected by flash floods last week.
The town’s disaster management office prepared more than 3,000 packs of relief goods, which were distributed to residents affected by flooding.
The mayor said the local government used its calamity fund amounting to P1.6 million.
The town did not receive aid from other local government units and the Provincial Government.
