CANDABA – Officials from Barangay San Agustin here led the annual celebration of “Piyestang Danum.”
Barangay Chief Marino Macapagal organized a fluvial parade highlighting the procession of Saint Agustin, the community’s patron saint.
“Simple lang pero masaya. Ang mahalaga ay nakakapagpasalamat tayo sa mga biyayang nagmumula sa tubig,” Erik Sagum, a resident here who joined the fluvial parade said.
The event was joined by the residents riding their own motorized boats as they roamed around to major streets inundated in at least chest deep in floodwaters.
These boats were usually being used for fishing activity which is an alternative source of living for the residents during this season.
The residents here are farmers during dry season and fishermen as floodwater started to occupy rice fields.
