City of San Fernando bags choral fest crown anew

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The City of San Fernando choir emerged winner again in this year’s Civil Service Commission regional choral competition held on Friday.
City Administrator Ferdinand Caylao said the blending of classic and modern Kapampangan songs led the city choir to bag the first place position.
“Champs once more! The City of San Fernando Choir bested other choirs in the just concluded CSC regional competition. It’s another tribute to the Habitat of Human Excellence,” Caylao said.
Mayor Oscar Rodriguez agreed and told Sun.Star Pampanga: “Talagang mahusay ang ating City Choir and I congratulate them for their winning the regional competition anew.”
The feat has earned the City Choir a ticket to the 2012 Government Choral Competition finals slated to at the UP Theatre at Osmeña Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City, on September 17 this year.
The choral fest is part of the CSC’s 112th anniversary where two finalists each from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and National Capital Region will vie for the grand prize of P100,000 and a plaque; the first runner-up with P70,000 and plaque; second runner-up, P50,000 and plaque; and third runner-up, P30,000 and plaque; while the other four finalists (5th to 8th places) will each receive P15,000.
With the theme "Kawani: Ikaw ay isang lingkod Bayani," the CSC strives to showcase the musical creativity and talent of government employees and promote the unique heritage and culture of the Filipinos, especially in the field of singing.
