CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Vice Governor and first district congressman wannabe Joseller Guiao has been named “Coach of the Year” by the Philippine Basketball Association Press Corps (PBAPC).
Guiao, branded by cabalens as the “CCC” [Champion Coach and Congressman] of Pampanga, earned the award for the second time over Talk ‘N Text’s Chot Reyes and B-Meg’s Tim Cone for steering Rain or Shine (ROS) to a breakthrough championship in the recent Governors’ Cup.
Guiao molded the Elasto Painters into a championship team in his first time coaching of the ROS owned by Terry Que and Raymund Yu, who will share the stage with him as the PBAPC’s “Executive of the Year.”
The veteran coach told Sun.Star Pampanga that he is elated and honored by the citation, which he credits to his hardworking players.
“I am honored to be chosen as Coach of the Year. The honor goes too, to the Rain or Shine players who worked hard and delivered their best to become the Governors’ Cup champions. I thank so much God and all who have been supporting us,” Guiao said.
The PBAPC will fete Guiao and other honorees today in its 19th Annual Awards presented by Smart and PLDT at Kamayan Edsa today, Monday.
