MABALACAT CITY --- Board Member Crisostomo Garbo said Tuesday he is serious in his plan to run for mayor in this newly converted component city.
But Garbo declined to issue additional comments regarding reports that he will seek the city’s top post in the upcoming polls next year.
“No comment ku pa ken. Pero I am seriously considering it,” Garbo told Sun.Star Pampanga.
The official also declined to comment on when he will run for mayor, in the 2013 or 2016 elections.
At the same time, Garbo denied reports that he has made an alliance with incumbent Vice Mayor Noelito Castro.
He said he may run as an independent candidate just like what he did in the past elections.
“Nung tagal ku man ala kung ticket, ala kung dalan vice mayor at eku makipag alyadu kang Noel,” Garbo said.
Castro earlier denied reports that he will seek re-election and will run under Garbo’s slate.
Castro said he has not changed plans and he is already decided to run for mayor as independent candidate. “E tutu ita. Nung tutu ya man tagal mayor i Garbo, milalaban laban kaming atlu ri mayor,” he said.
Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales will seek re-election in the upcoming elections for his last term.
Castro will be joined by incumbent Councilor Christian Halili, who will seek the vice mayoralty post, and Board Member Tars Halili and Incumbent Councilor Benny Jocson, who will both run for city councillor.
Morales said he doesn’t think Garbo will run for mayor considering that the latter still has one term as provincial board member.
