CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Government has partnered with various Key Shelter Agencies (KSAs) to provide decent housing projects for poor Kapampangans.
Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) Undersecretary Cecilia Alba met with Governor Lilia Pineda, along with the various municipal planning officers last Wednesday, for a synchronized housing program in the province.
Alba said the National Government has tasked KSAs to coordinate with local government units (LGUs) for the provision of both temporary and permanent shelters for perennial flood victims.
“The province and LGUs should be a part of the housing program for its quick implementation. We should be partners of the KSA. We need local boards as well to handle the coordination with the KSAs,” Pineda said.
With this initiative, flood-hit residents from the towns of Masantol, Macebebe, San Luis, Apalit, Candaba, Sto. Tomas, Minalin, San Simon, Arayat, Lubao and Guagua are expected to benefit from the said program.
Meanwhile, Governor Pineda has called for the creation of a local housing office and board to fast-track the Provincial Housing Program.
She asked the mayors to create their respective local housing boards to ensure the quick implementation of projects related to housing programs.
“There were cases when subdivision projects were not realized and they caused problems to both government agencies and beneficiaries. That is why we need local boards and offices to safeguard and ensure the completion of the projects,” said Pineda in the dialect.
