ANGELES CITY -- While branding the grand Fiestang Kuliat 2012 as a venue for the city to soar higher much that it is themed “Fiestang Kuliat 2012: Sulagpo Angeles!”, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan emphasized that the 20th twin feasts is apolitical and a pure celebration of Angeleños’ spiritual customs and cultural traditions.
After the press preview and official launch of Fiestang Kuliat 2012 at SM City Clark yesterday, Pamintuan told Sun.Star Pampanga that in keeping with the salute to the resiliency of Angeleños as it rose from the ashes of Mt. Pinatubo 20 years ago, the committee he chairs decided to shoo away from politicking during the month long celebration of Fiestang Kuliat this October.
“You know, in the past, politics just seeps in during Fiestang Kuliat. Even during the time of my predecessors, it was like that pero hindi tayo nakialam. We revived the Fiestang Kuliat, particularly the Tigtigan, Terakan Keng Dalan to buoy up the spirit of Angeleños and celebrate our resiliency. No politics at all and we would want it to stay that way,” he said.
Pamintuan furthered: “Like I’ve said before , Angeles City will soar higher in the years to come under our wing. Fiestang Kuliat is a venue for us to soar higher. It embodies the success of our efforts and unity. It showcases our religiosity, warmth and hospitality and all about Angeles City, who we are as a people.”
“Definitely, we do not want this year’s Fiestang Kuliat to have any political color,” concluded Pamintuan.
