PNP notes crime reduction under Pineda's watch

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO –High-ranking officials of the Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPO) recently noted the crime rate in the province had remarkably reduced since Governor Lilia Pineda assumed office.
“Nang mailagay ako sa pwesto ay pinag-aralan ko ang data ng kriminalidad natin sa province at napansin ko na before 2010 mas mataas ang crime rate natin,” Pampanga Provincial Police Director R’win Pagkalinawan said.
Pagkalinawan added that the success of the peace and order campaign could be partly attributed to the good relationship between the Provincial Government and police.
Pineda has been supportive of the provincial police including those assigned in various municipal police stations.
In fact, the Provincial Government, upon the initiative of Pineda, assisted in the rehabilitation and construction of police stations.
Pineda personally observed that some these facilities were already deteriorating and in a “sorry state.”
Aside from this, the capitol also empowered barangay tanods through trainings and seminars on the proper approach to dealing with law violators.
They were also provided with logistics such as vehicles to further boost their capability in running after lawless elements in their respective localities.
Pineda likewise organized a federation of junk shop operators and workers as watchdogs on illegal activities that may happen anytime.
She recognized that this sector’s participation could give first-hand information to local police on the details of a crime.
“Ito pala yung dahilan kung bakit mas mababa yung kriminalidad natin kumpara ng walang pa si Governor Pineda,” Pagkalinawan concluded.
