CAMP OLIVAS -- Four persons, including a policeman, survived an alleged ambush perpetrated by unidentified armed men riding-in-tandem along the Porac-Angeles road in Barangay Dolores, Porac town.
In a report, Senior Superintendent R’Win Pagkalinawan, acting provincial director, identified the victims as Emilio Sarmiento, 44; Rodrigo Lumanlan, 52; Aliza Ocampo, 41, all of Barangay Hacienda, Porac; and Police Officer 1 Jesus Tiglao, a member of the Porac police force.
The victims were on board a Nissan Sentra (UBC-589) driven by Sarmiento on their way to Angeles City when the suspects dropped a hand grenade at their vehicle’s window.
Lumanlan, who was seated near the driver’s seat, saw the hand grenade and threw it outside the car.
The hand grenade exploded in mid-air, the report said.
Police recovered a safety pin at the back seat of the car.
Porac police are still investigating the motive behind the ambush. (Ric Sapnu)
