CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Canadian member of Parliament for Winnipeg North Kevin Lamoureux said he could offer assistance to Kapampangans during his courtesy call to Governor Lilia Pineda over the weekend.
Accompanied by Butil Party List Representative Agapito Guanlao, Lamoureux disclosed in a luncheon meeting with the governor, Capitol officials, and Pampanga mayors that he could be of help in terms of jobs and employment for skilled workers in Canada, family migration, and agricultural technology exchange.
“I have helped many Filipinos, especially Kapampangans, get good jobs and stable lives in Canada. They possess excellent work ethics, skills and values Canadian employers are looking for. That is why I came here with the proposal to help. Before, when you speak of Asia, only China gets into your mind. But times have changed because of the Filipino work character and the Philippines easily comes into the picture,” Lamoureux said.
Lamoureux, who is the immigration critic and a legislature in Manitoba for more than 18 years, disclosed he could assist those seeking for visas to get into Canada.
“You will find the same hospitality because of Filipinos and workers from Pampanga in Canada, like in my hometown Manitoba. I will be most willing to assist those who want to migrate to my country and help if your local officials want to visit us and your fellowmen there,” Lamoureux said.
Pineda expressed her gratitude to Lamoureux in return, and vowed to take up his proposal immediately with local officials. (Jovi T. De Leon)
