Driver dies, 8 hurt in accident-A A +A

CAMP OLIVAS -- A van driver died while his passengers sustained wounds after his vehicle rammed the concrete railing of the Gugu Bridge in Bacolor town Friday.
Acting Provincial Police Director RâWin Pagkalinawan identified the driver of the Toyota Lite Ace as Orlando Lugtu, 59, a resident of Barangay San Pedro, Floridablanca town.
Lugtu died while his eight passengers suffered injuries, reports said.
Pagkalinawan said the victims were heading to Guagua town when their vehicle rammed the bridgeâs railing.
When the van was swerving and it was hit by another unidentified vehicle, which was also travelling the same direction.
The said unknown vehicle allegedly sped away, Pagkalinawan said.
The passengers who suffered injuries in different parts of their body were: Thelma Aguila, 44; Edilyn Lobo, 47; Vince JD Lobo, 4; Luz Valencia, 39; Rudel Castro, 45; Marie Louise Castro, 5; Perla Manio, 47; and Ma. Paz Castro, 43, all of Floridablanca.
They were taken to the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital in Sta. Rita town for medical treatment. (Ric Sapnu)
