GUAGUA -- Mayor Ricardo Rivera is set to host a yearly competition for woodcarvers and sculptors in a bid to promote and encourage the younger generation here to keep the woodcarving industry alive.
This came after the success of the recent on-the-spot woodcarving event at Betis District here, hosted by the Woodcarvers Guild of Sta. Ursula and the Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines-Pampanga Chapter.
“The event will be held in cooperation with woodcarver leaders and the furniture-making sector here. We will be making it a town-wide event so that we can also promote that we have the best woodcarving tradition,” Rivera told Sun.Star Pampanga.
Rivers said the event will be held at the town plaza.
He said he will start meeting members of his team to polish plans and preparations for the event. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
