CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -– The Kapampangan ice cream is now out in the market following its launching at the municipality of Sta. Rita town.
The Provincial Government, Municipality of Sta. Rita, and Magnolia Ice Cream forged an agreement for the mass production of “Pampanga’s Pinipig” ice cream.
Governor Lilia Pineda, Mayor Yolanda Pineda of Sta. Rita, and Magnolia general manager Mauricio Alcon signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA).
Sta. Rita town, known for its duman and pinipig industry, would supply pinipig to the ice cream company to produce the Kapampangan ice cream.
Pampanga’s Pinipig will be used as the main ingredient in Magnolia’s new Pandan flavor.
Alcon said Pampanga Pinipig was chosen out of four other ingredients because of its unique taste which blends well with pandan.
“We thank Gov. Pineda for introducing us to this great Kapampangan delicacy greatly helping us in our campaign to promote the unique flavors of the Philippines,” Pinky Custodio, Brand manager, said.
Mayor Pineda said this development is a boost and help to the local industry that could benefit townfolks.
“This is great news for the Pinipig makers here, not only will this promote our famous delicacy but will also serve as an additional livelihood for the people of Sta. Rita,” the younger Pineda added. (Herbert P. Mapiles)
