CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Representative Aurelio Gonzales (3rd district) led the distribution of P350,000 in cash assistance to some 234 scholars under his “Iskolar ng Dong” program.
Gonzales led the distribution at Barangay Dela Paz Norte here attended by the scholars and their parents.
He said the scholarship program that prides itself of not requiring students to maintain certain grade requirements has reached more than 27,000 scholars in college, elementary and high school.
The program also sends to skills training programs out-of-school youths, housewives and jobless individuals through the training programs organized with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).
“These scholars will form part of the growing number of beneficiaries we have in the district. As long as I am in public office, I will make sure that they are able to receive assistance so that they can be able to finish their studies,” Gonzales said.
He said the program will continue to have no grade requirement for its scholars, adding that students are only advised not to flunk subjects and finish their courses on time.
“Education is the lasting inheritance that I can give to you. Education and the knowledge that you get from it cannot be stolen from you. Study well and make your parents proud,” Gonzales said.
