ANGELES CITY -- Reelectionist Councilor Mike Tapang said Saturday that his "Magserbisyu Tamu" Team Tapang will aim for the majority of the Municipal Council seats in Porac during the midterm elections.
Tapang presented his line-up, sans a mayor and vice mayor, during a breakfast forum at a restaurant in this city.
Running with him are experienced and well-educated village chiefs Larry Antido, Regin Clarete, Rommel Gopez and Caloy Sese, who will slug it out with 19 other council aspirants from the town.
Team Tapang will come strong to the polls under the banner of the Nationalist People's Coalition-Kambilan.
"We are aspiring to get the majority in the council. We want to bring change and fresh ideas to the Municipal Council, institute needed reforms and push for a stronger Porac in terms of legislation, creating a development blueprint covering investments and delivery of basic social services and good governance that is corruption-free," Tapang said.
He added that his team will assure participatory legislation that will propel Porac to further growth: "Kailangan kasi lahat gumagalaw. Hindi ako o ang mayor lang o vice-mayor lang to address the various concerns of Poraqueños. Sama-sama ang lahat sa isa-isang galaw para sa kaunlaran, an alliance and united move."
Tapang said it was the reason--forged by respect for other Porac leaders--that led him to give way and set aside his bid for the vice mayoral post.
"I have high regards and respect for our leaders like our mayor [Condralito Dela Cruz], Exequiel Gamboa, the Lapids and Governor Lilia Pineda who all are allied with Kambilan, that is why I decided to give way, at least for this time. Mataas ang respeto ko sa kanila and foremost too, is my desire to continue serving, along with Team Tapang," concluded Tapang.
