JAIL guards and intelligence agents of the City of San Fernando Police on Tuesday afternoon foiled an attempt by a suspected pusher and relative of an inmate to sneak in prohibited drugs inside the Pampanga Provincial Jail.
The suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and some cash was neatly concealed inside a toothpaste tube placed in a bag of groceries and toiletries.
An intelligence agent, who requested anonymity told Sun.Star Pampanga, that because it was not a visiting day, the suspect identified as one Elmer Manalansan requested a jail guard to hand over the bag to a still unidentified inmate.
Upon inspection of the bag, Ocampo noticed that the end part of the toothpaste tube seemed tampered, prompting him to further check it.
“Medyo matigas po kasi iyung tube, hindi kamukha ng ordinary toothpaste. Ng alisin po naming iyung takip, toothpaste ang sa unahan, tapos iyung suspected shabu sachet, toothpaste ulit, tapos iyun pong pera. Ipinasok sa kabilang dulo ng tube na halatang tampered,” the operative said.
The suspect was then taken to the frisking area, where another sachet of the illegal substance was found in a pouch concealed in his underwear. The suspect was subsequently detained at the San Fernando Police Station pending inquest. (Jovi T. De Leon)
