CAMP OLIVAS -- A notorious member of a robbery/hold-up gang who ranks No. 1 in the list of most wanted persons in Sta. Ana town was found dead in Barangay San Roque, Arayat town.
Chief Inspector Paul Gamido, chief of Police of Sta. Ana, identified the slain hood as Jose Sonny Lacanlale, 40, alias Biringkul, who was believed to have been summarily executed before he was dumped in that town.
Lacanlale, according to Gamido, is a remnant of the Dider de Leon robbery hold-up and gun-for-hire gang operating in Pampanga and nearby areas in Central Luzon.
Lacanlale’s body was found by members of the town’s Bantay Bayan last Wednesday afternoon, sprawled on the pavement with gunshot wounds in the head and body.
Lacanlale, according to police reports, was allegedly involved in carnapping cases and had a standing warrant of arrest issued by Judge Edgar Chua of the City of San Fernando Regional Trial Court (RTC) for similar offenses.
He went into hiding for several years before he was sighted in the Sta. Ana area and nearby towns of Arayat, Candaba and Mexico.
Gamido said Lacanlale could have been killed somewhere and dumped in said area to mislead investigators.
“We believe Lacanlale was killed somewhere else and dumped in Sta. Ana to mislead investigators,” said Gamido in a statement.
Lacanlale's body was taken to the Nolasco Funeral Homes for autopsy but his relatives signed a waiver refusing the body of the victim to undergo the procedure. (Jovi de Leon)
