MAGALANG, Pampanga -- Vice Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao and Gov. Lilia Pineda led the distribution of Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Philhealth) membership cards to 360 indigents.
The Philhealth cards aim to provide families with the opportunity to avail of medical services in Philhealth-accredited hospitals and service providers here.
Guiao said the Provincial Government of Pampanga had helped with the processing of the cards under the indigency program of Gov. Pineda that helps with the medical needs of poor families.
The beneficiaries were mostly barangay community peacekeepers, employment coordinators, health workers and other community workers in the barangays of this town.
“We would like to give indigent families here access to quality medical services. We wish that our beneficiaries use these cards to the fullest and avail of checkups,” Guiao said, reminding locals here to take care of their health and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
Guiao, a sportsman before becoming a politician, said most lifestyle diseases are brought about by a sedentary lifestyle. He added that health and wellness is part of his advocacy for the first district of Pampanga.
He also urged beneficiaries to take care of their health cards for future use. The Philhealth card is aimed at providing the local residents, especially indigent families, the access to quality healthcare services.
Meanwhile, Gov. Pineda said that more indigent families in Pamapanga will be given indigent cards as the province gears towards helping the national government in providing universal healthcare coverage here.
