CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office cited Monday Governor Lilia Pineda as "The Most Supportive Local Chief Executive Officer" in Central Luzon.
During the traditional Monday flag raising ceremonies at Capitol, DSWD regional administrator Maribel Blanco handed over to Pineda the award, plus another plaque of recognition to Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office chief Beth Baybayin for being the outstanding social welfare officer in the region.
Blanco said the awards were the results of the executive's efforts in looking after the marginalized sector, including upholding the rights of children, women and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
"The governor has been keenly looking after these sectors like she has established a dormitory for abused women and has seen to their welfare of women, who are the core beneficiaries in Capitol's Negosyong Panyulung program," said Blanco.
She also noted that Pineda has made sure the passage and implementation of the child protection code under the breakthrough Child Abuse Protection and Intervention Network or Capin, and the upcoming Gender and Development Code being pursued by the Committee on Women and Children headed by Board Member Trina Dizon.
